10 Things I Learned From People Who Survive Cancer...

By Lissa Rankin MD
When I interviewed women who had survived breast cancer for my art project The Woman Inside, I noticed that they all had one remarkable thing in common.

They had all faced down death and decided to live every day like it might be their last. And then they all beat cancer.

The more interviews I did, the more I noticed that these women were living differently than most of the people I knew who had not been diagnosed with cancer. Here’s what I learned from those survivor women. Learning these lessons changed my life, and I hope they’ll change yours.

1. Be unapologetically YOU. People who survive cancer get feisty. They walk around bald in shopping malls and roll their eyes if people look at them funny. They say what they think. They laugh often. They don’t make excuses. They wear purple muumuus when they want to.

2. Don’t take shit from people. People who survive cancer stop trying to please everybody. They give up caring what everybody else thinks. If you might die in a year anyway (and every single one of us could), who gives a flip if your great aunt Gertrude is going to cut you out of her will unless you kiss her ass?

3. Learn to say no. People with cancer say no when they don’t feel like going to the gala. They avoid gatherings when they’d prefer to be alone. They don’t let themselves get pressured into doing things they really don’t want to do.

4. Get angry. Then get over it. People who survive cancer get in your face. They question you. They feel their anger. They refuse to be doormats. They demand respect. They feel it. Then they forgive. They let go. They surrender. They don’t stay pissed. They release resentment.

5. Don’t obsess about beauty. People who survive cancer no longer worry about whether they have perfect hair, whether their makeup looks spotless, or whether their boobs are perky enough. They’re happy just to have boobs (if they still do). They’re happy to be alive in their skin, even if it’s wrinkled.

6. Do it now. Stop deferring happiness. People who survive cancer realize that you can’t wait until you kick the bucket to do what you’re dying to do. Quit that soul-sucking job now. Leave that deadbeat husband. Prioritize joy. They live like they mean it.

7. Say “I love you” often. People who survive cancer leave no words left unspoken. You never know when your time is up. Don’t risk having someone you love not know it.

8. Take care of your body. People who survive cancer have a whole new appreciation for health. Those who haven’t been there may take it for granted. So stop smoking. Eat healthy. Drink in moderation. Maintain a healthy weight. Avoid putting toxic poisons in your God pod. Get enough sleep.

9. Prioritize freedom. People who survive cancer know that being a workaholic isn’t the answer. Money can’t buy health. Security doesn’t matter if you’re six feet under. Sixteen hours a day of being a stress monster is only going to make you sick. As Tim Ferriss writes in “The 4-Hour Workweek,” “Gold is getting old. The New Rich are those who abandon the deferred-life plan and create luxury lifestyles in the present using the currency of the New Rich: time and mobility.”

10. Take risks. People who survive cancer have faced their fear and told it to go to hell. They know life is for living. Fear is powerless. And joy lies in taking risks. So go skydiving if you want. Bungee jump. Hang glide. Spend your savings. Live like you might die tomorrow.

Are you doing these things? Or are you waiting for cancer to test out how much you want to live?

Don’t wait for cancer, my love. Don’t tempt the universe that way.

Be brave enough to live now.

What Are Your New Year’s Revolutions?...

By Jenna Phillips.
As this year comes to a close you may be wondering where the heck 2011 went. In between hustling business deals, promising yourself you’d go on vacation someday, beating yourself up for not reaching the fitness goals you proclaimed at the beginning of the year and over-extending yourself to please everyone around you – it really flew by, didn’t it?

It seems that each year gets shorter and shorter. Time is a very precious thing and the value you choose to give it is up to you. I’ve always said that the most valuable thing you can give to anyone is your time. How much do you value your own? Do you respect yours as much as you do other people’s time? Are you on time for everyone else but late for your own stuff?

It is often said, “time is money,” and whoever invented that saying couldn’t have been more right. How many times have you wished you could buy just a couple hours from The Uni-verse to add to your day? Have you ever felt like you’re running out of time? On the flip side, do you constantly feel like you have to wait for the “right time” to take that big leap you’ve been thinking about?

If you can resonate with any of my questions, I want you to start thinking about how you can maximize the value of your own time coming into 2012. Rather than making New Year’s “resolutions”, I invite you to call your changes “revolutions”. The definition of a resolution is: a firm decision to do or not do something. The definition of a revolution is: a forcible overthrow of a social order for a new system.

Wow! Creating a new system of doing things in your life sounds way more powerful than making a decision to make a change. How you do one thing is how you do everything. You get to be done with waiting around for “someday”, because you and I both know that “someday” doesn’t exist on a calendar.

What if you were to proclaim dates and deadlines for yourself? Like, by January 5th, “I will have completed Day 3 of my strategized workout plan that I can stick to throughout the year,” instead of, “I’m gonna get a gym membership and workout 7 days a week to undo all my holiday eating!” Life is a marathon, not a sprint.

We often set the bar too high and cannot keep up with our resolutions. When we fall off the wagon, we beat ourselves up and those low-vibration feelings don’t get us anywhere. If you were to create a realistic workout schedule for yourself – as if it had just as much value as your work schedule – you’d create the time and space to be committed. We make time for what is important to us. Start thinking of your time as a valuable asset and declare that yours is just as pricey as everyone else’s.

The key to sticking to a workout system is having it reflect quality over quantity. The idea is to work out smarter and harder, not longer. You can get the work done in an hour if you’re focused. If you can read a magazine while you’re “working out”, then you’re not working out.

Don’t wait until January 1st to map out your game plan. As soon as you finish reading this, look at your 2012 calendar and pick a few days a week that you can realistically stick to. Focus on a successful January that will carry you into February and so on. You will naturally add some extra days in the week to focus on your body. Begin your revolution and stop waiting around. There is no better time than NOW to make your life happen.

I Know, Honor, Support & Trust Me...

By Iyanla Vanzant
"If money is your hope for independence, you will never have it."- Henry Ford

Will I make it through the difficult times? Or will I give up? Will I? Will I? Will I get up this morning with a positive attitude, greet everyone with a smile and be glad to be alive? Or will I take a bad attitude into the world and have everyone wish I were not? Will I? Will I? Will I accept the people I encounter today for who they are and encourage them to become part of the group? Or will I seek out the people I feel are superior to the rest and alienate myself from those I judge beneath me? Will I? Will I? Will I do my part and give of myself to create my own independence? Or will I accept the crumbs that keep me dependent on people, conditions and situations? Will I? Will I? Will I trust myself and follow my first thought? Or will I look for others to validate me? Will I? Will I? Will you?

Today I will know me, honor me, support me and trust me.

New Music: Frank Ocean – "4 Tears" + "Girlfriend’s Best Friend"

Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Frank Ocean recently released two new tracks titled "4 tears" "i just listened to this a few times for myself. figured maybe some else needed to hear it. it’s called " he wrote on his Tumblr page. It is a rather short song but a great song. Ocean tends to have his way with words and you can tell he is one of the best songwriters out there through his lyrics. The second track is titled "Girlfriend’s Best Friend", was released shortly after and I love it. It`s a piano-driven ballad, that has the same emotional feel similar to Ocean’s fan-favorite ballad "Thinking About You." If this is the kind of music Ocean is bringing next year, then i can hardly wait for his official debut album.

"4 Tears"

"Girlfriend’s Best Friend"

New Music: Lisa Banton - "Love Me "

Canadian R&B songstress Lisa Banton has recently released her new track titled "Love Me",taken from her highly anticipated mixtape "Mirror Mirror Vol.2 ". "Love Me"is a reggae inspired track where Lisa tells her man what she needs to make the love last. Her voice is soulful and filled with raw emotion. She reminds me of the vulnerability of Jasmine Sullivan.

New Music : Lady Gaga – "Stuck On Fuckin’ You"

Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter Lady Gaga has previously premiered an unreleased track titled "Stuck On Fuckin’ You" from her current album"Born This Way". The songstress made a promise to her fans that she would release a song on Christmas Day as a festive gift for them. Speaking about the song, Gaga says: "So to give you a little background to the creation of this song. I wrote it in Minnesota after the Monster Ball on the tour bus. We recorded it in one shot. Fernando on guitar, Paul on Drum Machine. I wrote, sang it, and freestyled the last minute + a half of the song."
"Stuck On Fuckin’ You" is a really catchy, semi-acoustic track. Although she does have some pitch issues, it sounds pretty good for being recorded impromptu. I would love to hear a finished version.

Top 5 Regrets Of Dying People...

By Paulo Coelho
1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
When people realize that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made. From the moment that you lose your health, it is too late. Health brings a freedom very few realize, until they no longer have it.

2. I wish I didn’t work so hard.
This came from every male patient that I nursed. All of the men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence.

3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result.

4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
Often they would not truly realize the full benefits of old friends until their dying weeks and it was not always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved. Everyone misses their friends when they are dying.

5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.
This is a surprisingly common one. Many did not realize until the end that happiness is a choice. They had stayed stuck in old patterns and habits. The so-called ‘comfort’ of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to their selves, that they were content. When deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again.

Inventory Time!!!

By Tony Gaskins Jr.
It’s that time of the year to evaluate your life. Evaluate the people in your life. Evaluate the things in your life. Evaluate the habits in your life. Then eliminate the things that are weighing you down, tearing you down, or holding you back.

Questions to ask yourself:
•Do those riding with me on the road to destiny have gas money?

•Are the people in my life pushing me forward or holding me back?

•Do I have habits that are hindering my greatness?

•Am I living the best life I can live at this point in my life?

•What things can I do to make my life better?

It’s that time to stop making excuses and start making changes. As its been said: our life is a product of our decisions not our conditions. Make new decisions, take action and have a better life. Don’t be afraid of change because in order to grow we must change. Therefore if you want something new, then you have to be willing to do something new!

Don’t go into the New Year with old baggage! Upgrade your life – it’s that time!

Why This Is A GREAT Time Of Year To Kick The B/S To The Curb!!!

By Mastin Kipp

As we step into the New Year, let's step into it with a clean slate. That is to say, the stories we've been telling ourselves about why we can't have what we truly want - let's kick those to the curb.

Let's take a moment, pause, think and feel our way towards our greatest good and the greatest good for all. What if it were true that your biggest fear was actually total BS? What if it were true that the things that you think are your greatest weaknesses are actually what makes you strong? What if it were true that from this moment forward life would never have to be the same again?

What if it were as simple as simply changing your mind about what you want and what you know you deserve? What if we made it our intention to Love ourselves as much as we Love the thing we Love most in life? And then, what if we went about sharing that Love with others and found that where we thought we would die, be destroyed or that life would come to an end - we actually came to life?

My friend, I'm here to remind you - what was, is GONE and what will be is up to YOU! We get the privilege to decide our way in and out of circumstances! No dark night of the soul lasts forever; but what can last forever is if you get stuck in the story of being in the dark night.

So let us take a moment and think about what would bring us so much joy to create in 2012. Not just for ourselves, but also for others. How can we add value and Love to other people's lives? What are our gifts? Are we expressing them? Or are we letting them lay dormant? Are we truly walking our Faith and our beliefs or are we letting fear get the best of us? Let's look over who is in our lives and why? Is there anyone in our life who is there with a hook? Are all of our relationships clean? Are we entering into each relationship with integrity, truth and with the intention to serve? Or are we emotional vampires? Or do we have emotional vampires in our lives that we are allowing to drain our energy?

This is the time to make that change. Sure, we can make the change at any time, but with the symbolic power of the New Year and the collective focus on being brand new, the power of this time of year is huge.

Wisdom And Knowledge: Iyanla Vanzant

Freeing Myself from the Bondage of Worry
I experience and express the power of trust because . . . I know I have nothing to worry about.

Why worry? If you have learned anything by now it is that worry serves no purpose. Yet, you do it any way. Why? You sit around frantic. You run around frazzled. You make yourself sick. You have all but pulled your hair out, and for what? If your worrying could have made things better, you wouldn't have anything to worry about. What would you do with all of that free time? How about trusting that all the things you have been worrying about will not change for all the worry in the world. How about dropping all the worry and picking up a little trust. Oh no! There you go worrying about whether or not you have enough trust to trust. Get A Grip!

Until today, worry might have been your favorite past time. Just for today, use your time to develop a bit more trust.

Today, I am devoted to freeing myself from the bondage of worry!

Letting My Angels Know What I Want
I experience and express the power of trust because .everything I need always comes to me.

If you were to think about it you would discover that everything that is absolutely essential to your well being, you already have. You have a heart. You have a brain. You have lungs which give you the ability to breathe. In addition to that, everything you have ever needed has always shown up. It may be true that it was not there when you thought it should be there. On the other hand, if what you absolutely needed for your well being wasn't given to you, you wouldn't be here. The point is do not confuse your needs and your wants.

Very often we place demands on the universe to provide us with the things we want by saying that we need them. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a want. However, when they are not satisfied, you must not be fooled into believing that the universe does not support you. Nor should you believe it is an indication that you cannot trust the universe to take care of you. Here is an example of how that could happen.

Let's say you live 50 miles outside of town and you have no transportation. You might think that you need a car to get around. Granted a car would make it more convenient for you to get around. It would make you feel a lot more comfortable knowing that if there was an emergency you could get someplace fast. However, the truth of the matter is that you don't need a car, you want one. You have feet. There are bicycles. Hopefully you have neighbors. Or perhaps, you could be a bit more prudent about the situations you put yourself into expecting the universe to get you out.

There are angels around you at all times. Their job is to protect you from harm and provide you with the essentials of life. These angels do not interfere with your choices. Nor do they prevent you from making decisions which you may later regret. More important, when you ask for help, the angels will respond. When you call out to the angels to help you with a need only for them to discover that it is actually a want, they really get pissed! So watch it! Once you send your angels on a wild goose chase, they are a bit slower about responding to your next call.

Until today, you may not have realized that you were upsetting the angels who work on your behalf. Just for today, get clear about the difference between what you need and what you want. When you call upon your angels for help, be clear about what you are asking for.

Today, I am devoted to letting my angels know exactly what I want!

Releasing Myself from Past Trash
I experience and express the power of trust because I am living in the present moment.

Do not allow yesterday's garbage to influence your experience today. Do not allow your fears about tomorrow's garbage to steal the goodness that is available to you right now. Each time you fall into the past or jump into the future you miss what is going on right now. Right now you have the opportunity to create a fresh new start. The only things that come into your stream of thought are those things which you are ready to release or receive. Release the past! Receive your good now! Trust that when you reach tomorrow, there will be nothing but good waiting for you.

Until today, you may have been recycling garbage in your mind creating and re-creating experiences that you no longer need to have. Just for today, stop collecting trash. Stop looking for it. Stop dragging it around.

Today, I am devoted to releasing myself from past trash and fear of tomorrow!

Living the Truth of My Being
I experience and express the power of trust because I recognize the difference between fact and fiction.

Most of us live our lives based on facts. Some facts are based on actual knowledge and experience. Others are grounded in speculation. Truth always unfolds into a deeper understanding. Facts are often defended with statistics that support the position being promoted. Truth, which cannot be measured, needs no defense. In our day-to-day experience of living, we often fail to recognize or understand that there is a major difference between [a fact] and [the truth].

A fact is a temporary condition or situation. The truth is a constant presence. A fact is subject to change or alteration. The truth is immutable. It never changes. A fact can represent the truth, or it can be based solely on speculation. The truth represents the power and the presence of Spirit. Facts stimulate the intellect. Truth opens the heart. A fact begins with a premise that requires more facts to prove a conclusion. The truth is the [conclusion,] the understanding of which colors or clouds facts. A fact can be ignored, resisted or denied. The truth must be reckoned with. You can never trust facts. You can always trust the truth.

The [fact] is that most of us live our lives [based on facts]. The truth is, until you understand that there is a truth about you of which you may be unaware, you will not be able to move beyond the influence of facts. Hopefully, this fact will change as you learn to trust that there is a deeper level of truth that exists and is available to you.

Until today, you may have accepted certain facts about yourself and life as the truth. Just for today, set an intention to know the truth about yourself. Ask that the power of the truth allows you to move beyond certain debilitating facts with grace and ease.

Today I am devoted to living the truth of my being!

Getting Clear About Any and All Walls
I am faith-filled and fear-free because I am aware that fear of failure leads to failure.
What do you do when you have done everything that you know how to do and you are still not moving in the desired direction? How do you stay convinced that you are doing exactly what you need to do, in a way you need to do it? The short answer is, you don't! You don't keep moving when the movement is not taking you anywhere! You have hit a wall, and when that happens, you must not claw at it! You must back up. Take a look around. Let go of your needs and desires, and surrender.
When you hit a wall there is no need to give up! Oh no! We are not talking about that at all! However, when you hit a wall, you must acknowledge that there is something you cannot see or do not know about that is standing in your way.
Fear creates walls. Faith will tear down the walls of fear. If you are struggling to get something done and it is not getting done, you could very well be in the way. It could be that your fear of not getting it done is keeping it from being done. Your frustrations about how to get it done will not allow it to be done. Your anxiety about when it will get done or if it can be done are probably blocking the path to getting it done. When you hit a wall, don't attack it! Back up in order to see what it is.
Hitting a wall could mean that the Holy Spirit of life wants to show you something, give you something, or do something for you that it cannot do because you are in the way. If this is the case, the only way you can know for sure is to let go, back up and surrender your fear of the wall.
Until today, you may have believed it was noble or necessary to keep advancing your plans even after you hit a wall. Just for today, do not advance against any wall, human or otherwise. Back up! Let go! Surrender! Listen for your new and improved marching orders!
Today I am devoted to getting clear about any and all walls in my life!

I Am One with the Source
"We survived slavery because we held onto one another. The moment we found independence, we began to commit suicide."- Dr. Tesehloane Keto

Throughout human history, there have been numerous examples of man's inhumanity to man, of horrific pain inflicted upon one particular group by another. Even if your "people" did not experience slavery, you may reflect upon another experience in your own history. Or, consider that there are many forms of slavery.
There is a metaphysical principle that says whatever we do to someone else, we actually do to ourselves. This principle supports the golden rule "do unto others." We forget this and when we do, we create an imbalance in our own being. When we malign another person, we are talking about the self. When we deal dishonestly with someone, we are cheating the self. When we abuse, neglect or abandon another, we are doing it to the self. Why? Because we are connected by the one Creative source. This source creates a responsibility for, accountability to and dependence on one another. The moment we allow the self to believe it can do without other people we create the kind of loneliness, depression and disconnection that makes life not worth living.
I Am one with the Source. I Am one with mankind.

The Power of Re-Creation
I will realize my own worth when I accept what I tell myself I am, I am.
Your self-worth and sense of worthiness begins with the belief and understanding that you are not a victim! When you know who you are and whose you are, you cannot be a victim. Sure things happen to you. There are people who have dishonored you. You may have been born into a situation or circumstances that put you behind the so-called eight ball. You may have been molested or rejected. You may have been inflicted with mental, emotional or, spiritual dysfunction. None of it makes you a victim! As long as you believe it does, it will!

In Yoruba culture, the story of Odi-Ejiogbe is a case against victimization. Odi-Ejiogbe's brothers lied to him and set him up to be murdered. Through prayer and meditation, Odi-Ejiogbe was warned. He left his homeland and, instead of being killed, found wealth and riches in another village. The Biblical story of Joseph is another example. Joseph's brother's threw him into a well and sold him into slavery. They also told their father, Isaac, that he was dead. Joseph served as a slave and eventually became captain of the king's army. In that position, he was able to save his family, including his brothers from starvation. Like Odi-Ejiogbe, he knew he was not a victim. What he told his brothers is a mantra for all those who feel they have been victimized; "You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good!"

People have a propensity to do mean, mindless, irrational, irresponsible and unloving things. You know that! Rather than asking why, ask "How can I use this for my own growth?

Until today, you may not have realized that you have the power to re-shape and re-define any experience, no matter how devastating it seems. Just for today, take off the cloak of victimization. Look at your experience and ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to use it for something good.

Today, I am opening my mind and heart to the power of re-creation.

Remembering God's Promise To Always Be By My Side...

By Iyanla Vanzant
I am faith-filled and fear-free because I am never alone.

Do you remember your first day at school?

On the first day of school, you step out of a familiar environment into the mystery of the unknown. Those who you have loved and relied on take you to the door of something big, something pretty scary, and they leave you. You tell yourself you are not going to cry. Yet, at the critical moment, the moment you are forced to stand on your own, the breakdown comes. You stand there fumbling with the buttons on your brand new blouse or shirt, trying to be brave, wanting to run and hide. You might even kick and scream in protest. You may even lose your dignity by begging and pleading for things not to change. No one seems to be listening to you. They are all trying to convince you that it will be okay. Inevitably, one of the big people leans down. In that moment, regardless of what is said, the voice of God speaks directly to your heart, saying "Fear not, for I am with you."

Each new day and every new experience is just like the first day of school. It is a renewal of God's promise to never leave you. If you can stop crying long enough to hear the promise, someone will take your hand and lead you to the classroom of life. By the end of the day, you may feel a little embarrassed about the way you behaved as you realize there really wasn't anything to be afraid of because you are never alone. God promised to stay with you and God has.

Until today, you may have thought you had passed through the first day of school with flying colors. Just for today, realize that each time you step beyond your comfort zone, it is like entering school for the first time. Also remember that God has promised, if you take one step, God will take two on your behalf.

Today I am devoted to remembering God's promise to always be by my side!

Bones...

By Tyler Knott Gregson
Many years from now, if it’s my bones they find
entangled with the roots of a old tree,
I will tell you with absolute positivity and
the calm that only comes with certainty,
that the bones that were once covered with the
skin of my feet will be worn down flat and
misshapen with overuse and I hope they realize
that it was from a life spent always chasing after
you. Will they find a ribcage curled tighter around
itself than any other in human history? Will they know
without the use of scientific instruments and
those tiny hammers and tiny chisels and the little
toothbrushes used to brush aside the extra dirt that
spends it’s life trying to live inside the hollow
of my skeleton? Will they understand that those
ribs curled like a fist the day I reached inside
myself and tore out my broken heart for you to have
and hold and decorate your life with as you saw fit,
a splash of red, my color red, layered atop the
painting of your existence. Will they even begin
to grasp the story that was my life? No matter
the dust they brush away from my pale white
remains, no matter the indention of my tired hands
in the rock it rejoined, can they ever understand
the weight of that decision, the magnitude of removing
my favorite part of myself and giving it away freely
with no hope or promise of ever getting it back?
Will they know it was you that it was given to
if your bones are lying quiet too far away from mine?
I wonder if they will wonder how my bones grew so old
and gathered so much dust if the heart that fed them
has been gone for so long? I wonder if they will marvel at
the sacrifice they had no idea I made with a gut feeling
and a sadness and respect they are confused to feel
centering inside themselves? If I knew of a way,
I would carve your name into the very framework of my
body so that everyone, everywhere, would know it was
you that kept me alive, and you that I grew old for,
and that the bones of my face grew so used to the tracks
of tears that there are lines on my skull and that
all around the hollow where my eyes once lived, the hard white
and bare bone itself became wrinkled, from all the laughter.
All I know is that on that day, the day of white tents
and small stakes and the strings that mark out the grids
that mark out the places of interest for the diggers to dig
and those with the schooling to decipher, I hope they find
my bones, and I hope they take their hats off, despite the sun
that beats down upon their skin, and bow their heads in reverence
to what they find. The dusty bones of an unknown man with a ribcage
that curled tighter upon itself than any other. I hope they find
where my heart once lived and I hope they find the roots of an
old tree braiding their way around that empty space. I hope they
write my story and write it well and true and fill it with nothing
but the understanding of the hope that I lived my life with.
I hope they believe with bedrock faith that on the day my ribs
began curling, that tree began growing with its own secret hope
and its own secret life. That it knew, just as well it knew
that it’s roots would find water or its leaves would know the
steps to dance in the wind, or its branches felt their own purpose
of feeling hands climb up them, that no matter how tall it grew
or how bent its trunk, one day it would hold a swing, and one day
that swing would hold your silent sighs and eyes that quietly closed
the higher you went. That one day, its leaves and the moonlight would
be the only audience to your exaltation as you could almost
feel the warmth of the stars on your toes when you threw your head back
and stretched your feet out at the top of your swinging. That your
tears, whyever you cried them, would find themselves beneath the
pipelines of ant tunnels and over the skin of blind worms and
ignore all other plant life on their journey to that trees roots.
That it would be the water that fed its growth and that all this time,
it was growing from me.

Music Spotlight: Bianca Raquel

Introducing Bianca Raquel , a talented singer-songwriter,musician and producer . She is currently mixing her debut album, which we should be seeing sometime soon. She recently posted a video of her performing her beautiful song titled "The Fuck It Song" on her YouTube channel, the song is about a relationship gone awry. The song is beautifully written and sang with so much passion and realness. She sings: "Boy how many times have I put every card I got on the table? And let you take your wins willingly? . You can't call them second chances when I've given you about 35, and up until now, I've let you convince me every time, that you'll meet me halfway babe. You give me just enough hope to keep me here for another day babe. Promise you'll give me your whole heart, but you always walk away babe. How can I forgive you, when I already told you just how I feel, and you still do the same shit? So fuck this, fuck it. Oh and fuck you too. Fuck your whole crew. Fuck yo couch. Fuck your number, let me delete that shit right now. Fuck every lame excuse you ever gave to me,fuck every text message that I ever saved. Fuck your voice-mail. fuck your Facebook page."

Bianca Raquel is a singer, songwriter, producer, performer and. As the daughter of world-renowned musical director/arranger Ray Chew, it’s clear that the gift of music was passed down a generation. Growing up between two households with two different lifestyles and sets of rules between Upstate New York, NYC and New Jersey, Bianca found balance and consistency to be her biggest obstacles. The one constant variable in Bianca’s life has always been music. Practically growing up in the Apollo Theater, she dissected every rehearsal and performance; learning exactly what works onstage.

From a very young age, Bianca began writing songs instinctively. “One day my dad heard me singing and he was like ‘who’s song is that?’ When I told him I made it up in my head he was like ‘you should start writing them down.’” Soon, Bianca had tons of notebooks filled up with her songs. It quickly became apparent that Bianca’s gift was special because when writing songs, she automatically heard background and instrument arrangements along with the lyrics and melody. She recorded and produced her first song at the age of 9. “My dad took me into his studio and said ‘I want you to tell me how to play all the music you hear in your head and sing all the voices you hear.’”

At the age of 13, Bianca was the youngest student to attend the Grammy Foundation’s First Annual Grammy Camp. There, she was surrounded by 47 other talented students who inspired her to improve and nourish her talents. At 15, her father invested in her dreams and bought her a Roland Fantom. He told her to make it her business to learn her Fantom inside and out, using it as a way to take her production skills to the next level. He instilled in her a sense of work ethic and suggested that the more tools and skills she equipped herself with, the more her star would rise. So she practiced and found herself in her music.

Now a student at Berklee College of Music, where she continues to hone her skills, Bianca feels humbled and blessed by the opportunity. “At Berklee, I have been awarded the tremendous gift of musical discipline and theory which was the missing piece to my puzzle.” True to her art and to herself, there is depth to Bianca’s music, with influences ranging from Stevie Wonder to Radiohead. “One thing I pride myself on is having the ability to never be boxed in or labeled as simply one thing or another. As an artist, I don’t have to choose a genre but simply juice every drop of creativity I possess and give the world something new.” Tackling reality in her music with wit, passion and sophisticated lyrics beyond her years, the brand and legacy of Bianca Raquel is born. With her EP “Hello, My Name is…” set to be released, the world is waiting to hear what she has to say.

The Best Live Performance Of 2011 : Beyonce - "The Beautiful Ones & Sex On Fire"

Grammy-awarding winning songstress Beyonce made history this year by being the the first female singer to headline the Glastonbury Music Festival’s main stage in 20 years "A girl, a woman, has not headlined in 20 years, so this is history for me". During her amazing set she performed outstanding covers of Prince's classic record "The Beautiful Ones" and Kings of Leon's best selling single ever "Sex On Fire." She worked the stage, the audience like a true performer. Her singing was flawless, her musicians were amazing. That's how you entertain an audience and that's how you SING live. People like Rihanna and Britney Spears need to take a note, Beyonce is a true superstar in every sense of the word, unlike those two who can't sing nor perform to save their lives.

New Video: TiRon And Ayomari Feat Yummy Bingham – "All My Love"

LA-based duo TiRon & Ayomari have recently premiered their music video for their new single "All My Love" featuring singer-songwriter Yummy Bingham , taken from their debut album "A Sucker For Pumps", which was released in September and is described as "an album about boys and girls, dedicated to men and women." The song is a smooth banger with Bingham on the hook and a nice Slick Rick sample adding to the mix. The Mike Mihail directed video is set in an elementary school, TiRon plays the principal, Ayomari is a coach, and Yummy is a teacher to a group of cute children.

New Video: Anjulie - "Stand Behind The Music"

Canadian singer-songwriter Anjulie has just premiered her music video for her new single titled "Stand Behind The Music", which serves as her second single and follow-up to her debut single "Brand New Bitch" which peak at #16 on the Canadian Hot 100 and #3 on the US Hot Dance Club Play chart. "Stand Behind The Music" is a pop anthem about standing up for what you believe in. I'm actually glad she's abandoned the alternative sound of her debut single and is now doing the music she really wants to do and has now finally found her true voice and is not afraid to use it. "And for the first time in my life, I'm doing my shit. I can't stand this pop tart candy, those getting famous, getting naked, getting randy." The Canadian songstress is definitely on the right track to becoming one of the pop forces to keep an eye out for in 2012.

New Video: James Blake - "A Case of You"

James Blake has just recently premiered his music video for his cover of the Joni Mitchell`s classic record "A Case of You" taken from his recent EP titled "Enough Thunder" as well as the deluxe edition of his self-titled album. The video was directed by film-maker Seb Edwards, starring British actress Rebecca Hall ,whose most known for her role in Woody Allen’s 2008 movie "Vicky Cristina Barcelona". She’s apparently a fan of Blake and so was quick to accept the offer of a role in the video, which sees her hanging out, dancing and looking all sad in her apartment, where the lights don’t stay on reliably. The visual is a perfect match for Blake's haunting cover.

I have the biggest people on the album and she has a different profile, more like an indie kind of artist and it makes her song even more special, it makes it stand out I think." Neither David nor Sia appear in the video, which instead features Super 8 star Ryan Lee as teenager discovering his supernatural powers, which makes him as strong as titanium.

New Music: Lana Del Rey - "Off To The Races"

The beautiful and talented songstress Lana Del Rey has just released her new single titled "Off To The Races" taken upcoming debut album,"Born To Die", it was added to iTunes as a free download this week.
