The human mind is both a blessing and a curse. We are a genius race. We truly are. Our minds have created so many great things on this planet. Our minds are also capable of great amounts of darkness and fear. The human mind alone is powerful, but it is not all-powerful, nor is it always right. In fact, human beings have a track record of getting things vastly wrong before we get them right.
We tend to learn through pain and destruction, and to this day the majority of human beings are still running thought patterns that do not understand that each person is a part of a greater whole – that what one person does affects us all. We are still running thought patterns of separation and, as a result, fear. Some folks are breaking free of this, but many are still under the hypnosis of fear, separation and are seeking to get Love from “out there” instead of looking where Love truly resides, which is always “in here”.
Our minds can be genius, but our minds can also be the source of massive suffering.
The beautiful thing about the human mind is that each one of us has an opportunity to train our minds like a champion. We can CHOOSE to align our thoughts with thoughts of Love, Peace, Compassion, Non-Judgment, etc. Or we can CHOOSE to align our thoughts with fear, lack, separation and the like. When we choose to align our thoughts and actions with Love, we tap into a wisdom much greater than our mind can comprehend.
All of us were born out of a Loving and Connected Uni-verse. We were birthed from an intelligence that we cannot understand, yet we feel intuitively. When we surrender our will and understanding to that subtle voice within, we sign up for an AWESOME and EPIC adventure. We won’t know what’s going to happen next, but we know that we will always be taken care of.
The first thing that usually happens when we surrender is that the shit literally hits the fan. Time and time again, whether we are consciously or unconsciously walking on The Path, the shit will hit the fan. Our limited perspective from our minds will want to see moments like this as bad, negative and horrible. It’s only natural. When something tragic, unplanned or painful happens, it makes total sense to see that event as a negative. BUT – because we have NO idea what is going to happen in the next moment or in the next year as a result of these seeming disasters, we cannot, if we are tapped into Love, label them as bad, negative or disasters.
The mind that is aligned with Love simply observes these circumstances and chooses not to label them. We feel the feelings that come with each circumstance, but we do not let them define us or keep us stuck in a rut. We let the feelings come and go like a gust of wind – unattached and aware.
Because we do not know what is going to happen next, if we choose to prevent or resist the present moment, we may actually be interrupting and stopping a miracle in progress.
EVERY time something has gone to shit in my life, it’s turned out even better. This is because I choose to see every seeming disaster as Grace and then take empowered action from that place of thinking.
Consider that when things are falling a part in your life that it is actually Grace and celebrate the end of a chapter in your life and ride the wave so you can be reborn, smarter, wiser and with even more Love and Understanding in your heart.
Choose to see even THIS MOMENT as a miracle in progress, and then get out of your own way.
When we break things down to the simplest of terms, what we really want most out of life is to feel good. We may have lofty goals and grand visions for our life and that’s definitely not a bad thing, but at the end of the day, it’s really all about how we want to FEEL.
I’ve been having a lot of conversations lately with people that are stuck in this vicious cycle of projecting their happiness onto the attainment of some achievement or the arrival at some future destination in their life. The common experience they describe is one of a perpetual sense that something is missing and an inability to put their finger on what it might be.
The problem is one that we all face to some degree or another. The something that is missing is our PRESENCE and attunement to what is unfolding in our lives RIGHT NOW. This results from the belief that we are separate from that which we desire and creates a constant experience of wanting, chasing and never quite having or being enough.
The truth, however, is that the experience of fulfillment and happiness is available to us all the time, if we choose to allow ourselves to have it. In order to do this, we must turn our focus inward and we must have our eyes on the present rather than some other point in time. If we are constantly looking out into the future or past then we could say our focus is on some moment “out there” ”rather than on this moment “right here”. What tends to happen is that even when we achieve our goal and we arrive at the point we thought would bring us so much happiness, we are unable to truly experience fulfillment because we’re still looking “out there” at the next thing.
The solution is a simple one but it can be scary because it requires us to do one of the things which many of us fear most: to actually FEEL our feelings.
In order to do this, we have to be truly present and willing to be honest with ourselves about where we’re at which isn’t always easy. I have been learning to inhabit the present more fully and check in by asking myself and others: “What are you feeling right now?” By tuning in to what we’re feeling and breathing into it, we can immediately shift our focus from being future or past-oriented to here and now.
Once we are tuned in to what we’re feeling now, we have located our current position on the map. The first thing to do is to simply acknowledge and accept where we are. This means just BEING with whatever we’re feeling, observing it without judgment and just allowing it to be. When the sensation is an unpleasant one, this willingness to just be with it and let it be will actually allow it to pass more quickly. If we try to run away from it, numb it or distract ourselves by using any one of a number of vices and crutches, this only provides temporary relief and the underlying disconnect remains. Conversely, when the state we’re in is a positive one, there is a difference between fully experiencing it and holding on for dear life. When we try to grasp onto joy or love too tightly, the feeling is more likely to slip through our fingers and escape us. As the saying goes: “This too shall pass.”
Once we know and accept where we’re at, we can choose to alter our experience by setting our focus on a different feeling. One way would be to think about what we are grateful for and feel the rays of GRATITUDE that light us up inside. We could also focus on the feelings of love we have for those nearest and dearest to us and experience the sensation of warmth in our hearts. In this way, we are able to access our “feeling good” place on purpose at any time.
Why is this important? Well, if we accept the idea that what we ultimately want to experience when we achieve our goals and realize our vision is a certain feeling, the only way to get there is to determine what that feeling is and then check in with ourselves from moment to moment and use our current feelings as a compass. So first, we establish our destination by envisioning the feeling experience we wish to have and then we use our internal GPS to lead us there by tuning into to what we’re feeling in the present moment and discerning which experiences are in alignment with the desired feeling and which ones are not.
So what are you feeling in this moment? Are you willing to just be with it and let it pass? What would you like to feel? Once you have a feeling intention, set that as the destination on your internal GPS and tune in to attract the experiences and reality that will embody those feelings.
Moms carried every single one of us inside their bodies for more then nine months. Moms are usually the only person who will always love us unconditionally. Moms are the last person who will believe that we did anything wrong. Moms love us when no one else can, they take care of us when we are sick. Moms understand all our trials and errors and moms forgive and forget every bad thing we have ever done, did or do.
When I was growing up I never realized just how much you really did for me. How much support you gave me. How much money you spent raising me. How much space and freedom you gave me, no ones perfect but you are pretty close. I’m sorry for everything I put you through because when I think back, I put you under some pretty terrible stress. I wish we can have a better relationship from now.
Multi-talented singer-songwriter, dancer and actress R&B/pop singer Tinashe recently premiered her music video for her latest single titled "This Feeling", taken from her stunning debut mixtape titled "In Case We Die". The Cole Walliser directed music video sees the singer showing off more than some skin in this seductive video as she handle some tough choreography like a pro to her infectious percussion-driven R&B track. Check out the video and if you haven't already be sure to download her mixtape "In Case We Die".
Here are some of my favorite tracks off her mixtape.
Grammy-award winning Jazz songstress Esperanza Spalding has premiered her music video for her new single titled "Crowned And Kissed", which is taken from her latest album "Radio Music Society". The song feel-good mid-tempo track is showcased beautifully in the music video, featuring a fun choreographed routine "The song is about the unsung royalty in your life, men and women who quietly, every day do the mightiest, most honorable things. Although they may not end up in castles or with great riches and power, in the eyes of those who love them, they most certainly are mighty and regal."
Lupe Fiasco recently premiered his music video for his single "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)", the first single off his forthcoming album "Food And Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1". The Alex Nazari directed music video sees the 30-year-old rapper in hometown of Chicago, driving his white Lamborghini and roaming the streets with glowing eyes while rapping to the camera.
Grammy-award winning R&B songstress Alicia Keys back with her new track titled "New Day",which a buzz single lifted from her upcoming yet-untitled fifth album which is due out towards the end of the year. "I’ve got something fresh for you, something fresh for the summer. I’m feeling good", "New Day" is an upbeat track produced by her husband Swizz Beatz , Keys delivers one of her laziest vocal deliveries and it`s lyrically weak.
Alicia Keys needs to go back to basic and work with producers that actually bring out the best in her and stop wasting her time and talent recording tracks like this.
R&B songstress Tyra B responsible for R&B hit"Country Boy", returns with her new single titled "Sex", the lead single taken from her mixtape titled "The Morning After". The mixtape will serve as a prelude to her debut EP titled "Show Me Something Amazing", "Sex" is a sultry, slow tempo track with sexed up lyrics:"I just want your sex because it is the best".
R&B songstress Keyshia Cole has premiered a snippet of her forthcoming new single titled "Enough of No Love", which features Young Money rapper Lil Wayne, taken from her upcoming album titled "Woman To Woman", Cole has already shot a music video for the single which will be released on Itunes at midnight on July 2nd.
"Enough of No Love" is your typical Keyshia Cole track about realizing your self-worth and getting out of a bad relationship, it`s a good song but her vocal delivery is painful, she sounded really strained.
Earlier this week Harlemite rapper A$AP Rocky starred in Lana Del Rey 's music video"National Anthem" now, she features on his new track titled "Ridin", taken from his upcoming debut album titled "LoveLiveA$AP" due out on 11 September. "Ridin" is a chilled,retro-soulful,hip-hop track, Rocky delivers good verses and Lana sounds pretty hot on this track : "I want to be your object, of your affection, give me all your time, touch, money, and attention. Pick me up after school, you can be my baby, maybe we could go somewhere, get a little crazy. He’s rich and I’m wishin’, um, he could be my Mister Yum, delicious to the maximum, chew him up like bubble gum."
Update: Turns out the song is unfinished and leaked without permission.
The Grammy-winning songstress Adele has announced life changing news via her official website. The "Rolling In The Deep" singer revealed that she expecting her first child with boyfriend Simon Konecki.
Adele wrote:
"I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we’re over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time.
Grammy award winning Pop songstress Lady Gaga recently debuted new song titled "Princess Die", during her tour "Born This Way Ball" in Melbourne. The song is inspired by the late Princess Diana, "and wish that I would go,in my rich boyfriend's limo. Right after he proposed, with a 16-carat stone wrapped in rose gold. With the paparazzi all swarming around, so bob head your head for another dead blonde". No word if the dark ballad will appear on her upcoming album.

Jordin Sparks has premiered the music video for her duet "Celebrate" featuring late singer Whitney Houston, the official first single taken from the soundtrack to musical drama film "Sparkle"where both ladies are acting alongside each other. The song was written and produced by R. Kelly. The house party themed tribute visual features Sparks and her co-stars Derek Luke, Omari Hardwick, Goapele, Carmen Ejogo ,Tika Sumpter and there a small footage from the film that shows the late singer looking especially beautiful while playing the single mother of a vocal trio.
Pop songstress Lana Del Rey has premiered her stunning music video for "National Anthem", the official fourth single taken from her debut album "Born to Die" released in January 2012 via Interscope Records. The video was directed by Anthony Mandler, it sees Del Rey playing Jackie O, also plays Marilyn Monroe and Rapper A$AP Rocky playing John F. Kennedy: "I wrote a treatment for me and A$AP Rocky, because I just thought he'd be really perfect to star in it. ... I love it." A$AP Rocky added " We did a video together... some swag s**t. I play JFK, she plays Jackie O. Some cool, trippy s**t... People gonna get it in like three years, and that's the whole purpose of it."
The "National Anthem" music video was so beautiful and timeless, the ending almost had me in tears.
Lupe Fiasco has released his second single titled "Bitch Bad", taken from his upcoming album "Food And Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1",which is due out on 25th September. "Bitch Bad" sees Lupe going in on the usage of the term "bitch" and it`s relation to our youth "Bitch bad, woman good, Lady better, they misunderstood". I like the message in the song, but too bad it will not get played on the radio because of the use of the word "Bitch", nor get played in the clubs.
R&B songstress Tweet has released the fourth selection from her musical series #TweetTuesdays, titled "Face To Face" which was produced and written by Joonie. "Face To Face" is smooth mid-tempo with a hint of retro soul vibe in terms of musical production,Tweet singing about finding real love with the perfect man, who brings so much joy to her life and she is ready settle down with him
I hope Tweet can revive the time when R&B was a sentimental love song.
Belgian-based producer Compuphonic has released his new track titled "Sunset" featuring Brooklyn-based violin player-singer Marques Toliver. The track is laid-back, deep house number with soulful, light and airy vocals from Toliver.
There are good covers, there are bad covers and then there are covers so fucking amazing that they should totally take the place of the original. I`m really impressed by the way Vaughn covered Katy Perry`s "Wide Awake", India.Arie`s "Ready For Love" and Rihanna`s "Fire Bomb". He puts his unique spin on these tracks and showcased his stunning vocal growth.
At his prime, Michael Jackson was the undisputed biggest selling act in the world. Jackson's career spanned 40 years, spawning nine solo albums of original music and innumerable compilation and remix projects. His last album, Invincible, was released in 2001. For some, Michael will be most fondly remembered by those who watched him grow up through the 19 albums he recorded as the precocious lead singer of The Jackson 5 and later as the young adult star of The Jacksons. He sold a combined, worldwide total of 750 million records over his career, 50 million for Thriller alone. Twenty-seven years after the 1982 release of Thriller, Michael Jackson still holds the record for the best selling album of all-times. Other commercial highlights include the best-selling Victory tour with his brothers, the Jacksons, and the co-writing (with Lionel Richie) of the first major charity single "We Are The World" for USA for Africa, a star-studded effort that resulted in a number one single that earned millions for famine relief.
The recipient of innumerable awards and industry accolades, Jackson won a total of 13 Grammy Awards throughout his solo career. He also appeared at or near the top of the Billboard charts over 100 times, with the album Thriller resting at #1 for 37 non-consecutive weeks for two years.
More than a record-breaker, Jackson was a trend-setter in a video arts and pop culture. He was one of the first entertainers to be the star of a successful cartoon, the Jackson 5. He was a pioneer of slick, pop locking choreography. Millions emulated his red leather jacket, his white glove, even the jheri curl he first sported in the 1980s. He was the first black performer to have a video receive airplay on MTV, opening the door for subsequent generations of black musicians and video artists. His Thriller video was the first music video to become a best-selling home video, where he dominated as the leading video talent for nearly a decade. His talent as a video artist culminated in the 1986 3-D short film Captain Eo, which was shown in Disney amusement parks IMAX theaters for 12 years. He also performed as the "Scarecrow" in the movie version of the Broadway hit, The Wiz.
As the singer and songwriter of the landmark 1979 album, Off The Wall, Jackson with producer Quincy Jones was among the first to blend soul, rock, rhythmic pop, and electronic music with a highly melodic, global appeal. The sound formulated on Off The Wall and taken to its commercial zenith on Thriller has been emulated by a generation of young stars who cite Jackson as an influence, from Usher to Justin Timberlake. Michael Jackson will be remembered as one the biggest international stars in the history of music.

The album is available to purchase on iTunes and your local record store now.
The Joseph Cahill directed music video sees Fiona pulling a brain out of her purse, and her wearing an octopus on her head as a hat and a minotaur in her bed.
