Grammy-award winning songstress Heather Headley has been quite busy, with putting final touches to her forthcoming fourth album titled "Only One In The World" as well as promoting her new musical "The Bodyguard" set to open in December 5 in London,West End.

The musical is based on the 1992 film of the same name starring the late Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. "The Bodyguard" will feature a host of Houston’s greatest hits including "I Have Nothing," "Run To You", "I Will Always Love You" and many others.

This song has always been one of my favorites and for my Broadway friends I did this one for you. And for everyone else, I hope you will enjoy it too. Here’s a little snippet (don’t be mad.. that’s all I could give you today) of “Home” from my new album “Only One In The World." -She wrote on her tumblr page.

An Open Letter To: Missy Elliott

By Burmy
Dear Missy,
Where do I begin? Your story is the most multi-faceted from your tough childhood in Hampton Roads (including paternal and other familial abuse-which included frequent sexual abused by a cousin twice your age at the time) to your lead status in the girl group Sista to the rise of the Swing Mob to the super-stardom thereafter, that's enough for a biopic right here. All the zeniths of femcee achieving stardom right now were the very apogees you set about a decade ago. With such a story, where can I focus? Allow me to focus on your uber-creativity, your versatility, and your mission of unity among female urban artists.

The day was July 15, 1997. Tupac had just succumbed to gunshot wounds a mere ten months prior, and Biggie was gunned down only for months before. At this point, the hip-hop industry in general was in a flux, it was no longer creative but hyper-sexual. It was that day that your debut solo album "Supa Dupa Fly" dropped via Goldmind/Elektra and you changed all the rules. All of a sudden sexuality was no longer paramount, but just one of the threads in the tapestry of creativity and genuine playfulness that comprised of your music. Half of the music was hip-hop, half was R&B, but all of it was well-thought out artistry. Plus every single came with an equally visually stimulating video, mainly ideas never thought of before in hip-hop. The following paragraph is a list of visuals used in your videos, with the corresponding video in parentheses:

Outer space/Mega Man ("Sock It 2 Me"), Barbie dolls ("Beep Me 911"), medieval castle fantasy ("Hit Em Wit Da Hee"), bald-headed rubber suits ("She's A Bitch"), motorbikes in a junkyard with pyrotechnics all around ("Hot Boyz"), zombies in waste dump pipe tunnels, which switches to army camouflage fatigues in the jungle ("Get Ur Freak On"-again), the auto shop ("One Minute Man"-yes, I did link it last week too), high school ("Gossip Folks"), Asian cinema ("I'm Really Hot"), blue sweatsuits in the desert ("Lose Control"), film noir ("Teary Eyed"), marching bands ("We Run This"), zombie ballplayers ("Ching-A-Ling"), and a mishmash of imagery which can't be described all in one column ("Work It!", "Pass That Dutch",). This list is not complete (and I didn't even touch your guest appearances), but I think my audience gets a good idea of all the great stuff in your mind.

While your rap skills get the most attention, you have proven yourself as an excellent R&B singer and producer as well. About half of the videos I mentioned earlier featured primarily sung vocals, with your signature alto sound (after all, you got your start as part of an R&B group). However, production/mentoring remains my favorite "side aspect" of your work, something I first fell in love with on Monica's "So Gone"-that sample of The Whispers' "You Are Number One" just happens to enhance whichever mood I'm in perhaps it has something to do with being a source of auditory relief when I was dealing with my bouts of depression as a 16-year old. Yet the peak of these aspects (particularly in artist formation) has manifested in the rise of a certain 25-year old from Philadelphia.
Yes ma'am. First on the reggae-tinged "Need U Bad", then on the Daft Punk "Veridis Quo"-sampling "Dream Big" and now on the double-dip interpolating "Holding You Down (Goin' In Circles)", you have helped transform this woman who was set to be another industry victim and turned her into one of the more-respected R&B artists of our generation. And in the process, your production mixed with her uber-sultry vocals helped make her something I had never heard in my 15 years of hip-hop fandom.

When Queen Latifah first released her classic "U.N.I.T.Y." in 1993, I don't think she had any idea of how far you would live up to that in your work. Ever since your first guest verse on then 7-year old Raven-Symone's debut single "That's What Little Girls Are Made Of," at least 48 other female artists have had the privilege of working with you. Even as it became common for other such artists to beef amongst themselves , you never got caught up in any of that bullshit, keeping your vision of a universal sisterhood in urban music. And that makes sense, because it's just plain ludicrous for a subgroup to fight among itself when it's trying to gain respect.

The bottom line: your creativity, multi talents and devotion to unity make you a shining example that every femcee (in fact, every artist in general) should strive to attain. Although it's been a couple of years since your last album "The Cookbook," word is that you're finally set to release your new album. Trust me, we are going to keep a candid eye out-HIP-HOP NEEDS YOU.

New Music: J. Cole - "The Cure"

J.Cole is back with new music after a 4 month hiatus from Twitter, the song is called "The Cure" which samples Beyonce's chrous from Kanye West`s and Jay-Z’s track "Lift Off" taken from their collaboration album "Watch the Throne". Cole goes in on this track and reminds people that he`s a talented lyricist, I hope he does a track with Andre 3000, which would be crazy.

Video: Beyoncé's "Countdown" (The Snuggie Version)

Introducing Ton Do-Nguyen is amazingly talented fan of Beyonce who took it upon himself to recreate her music video "Countdown", I am so impressed with this kid. He used some amazing techniques to bring the recreation to life, from his facial expressions to the choreography from top to bottom. This is what he had to say about it : "I love Beyoncé and I love "Countdown"—the music video is just awesome—so I was like, "I’ll try and do that for fun". I started in November, but then I had to start from scratch a couple months afterwards, so I spent months and months on it."

Beyonce herself loves the video and was so proud of him that she decided to post it on her Tumblr page. "Queen Bee is always Number One. I’m just so honored that she’s seen it already and I don’t even know what to think."
Watch the video below.

Music Legends: Boyz II Men

It is sometimes difficult to remember just how big the vocal group Boyz II Men was. Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris, Shawn Stockman and Michael McCary undoubtedly constituted the biggest soul group of the 90s, and blew open the doors for a generation of doo-wop influenced Soul groups, few of which ever remotely approached the group harmonies or strong material that Boyz II Men boasted in their prime.

Formed in Philadelphia at that city's High School for the Performing Arts, the Boyz were discovered by New Edition member Michael Bivins when they broke into an impromptu routine for him at a Bell Biv DeVoe concert (the encounter was later recalled in the spoken word interlude of the group's first hit, "Motownphilly"). Bivins, who had previously started his own production company, signed the group and landed them a contract at Motown. Their first album, 1991's Cooleyhighharmony, was a smash, led by the great dance cut, "Motownphilly." The follow-up single, an a cappella remake of G.C. Cameron's "Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday," became the year's hottest love song and the beginning of a supergroup.

"Hard to Say Goodbye" was the perfect vehicle for the young group. With the tightest harmonies of any Soul group in the 90s, Boyz II Men brought an acoustic, old school spirit to a Soul music world that was enamored with electronic funk, and their smooth, romantic approach was embraced by millions. But unlike the big Soul groups of the 60s and 70s that were formed around dynamic lead singers, Boyz II Men had no recognizable lead voice, but were at their best when all four members sang in unison.

In 1992 the group cut a song for Babyface's soundtrack to the Eddie Murphy movie Boomerang. It turned out to be the longest running #1 single of all time, "The End of the Road" -- an average song with a huge hook that the group brought to life. They continued to record sporadic singles over the next two years before teaming with top producers Babyface/L.A. Reid and Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis for II, the top album of 1994. It was the greatest album they would ever record and featured four hits, "I'll Make Love To You," "On Bended Knee," "Water Runs Dry" and "Thank You." Unfortunately, while the group was singing occasional gratuitous lines like "throw your clothes on the floor, and I'll take my clothes off too," the Motown PR machine was disingenuously selling the group hard as the wholesome "boys next door," ultimately causing identity problems for them with both urban and adult contemporary audiences.

The group followed II with another smash; this time the duet with Mariah Carey, "One Sweet Day." With the Boyz now the biggest group in the world, expectations ran high for their next album, 1997's Evolution. It included the hit "A Song For Mama," but was commercially and critically a step down. For their next album, 1999's Nathan Michael Shawn Wayna, group members took a more active writing and production role, but the disc failed to land a top 40 hit and the group left Motown, feeling that they were not being adequately promoted.

Old friend L.A. Reid was at the helm of Arista, and signed the group for 2002's Full Circle. It came and left the charts quickly, and their tenure on Arista was done after one disc. In 2004, group member Mike McCary retired from the group due to a chronic back ailment, leaving Boyz II Men as a trio as they prepared to start their own record company. They launched MSM Records with their album Throwback, an album of covers of soul music classics. It was a modest success. They followed it a couple years later with another remakes album, Motown: A Journey Through Hitsville, was was received much more positively and sold well.

In 2011, the Boyz celebrated their 20th anniversary by readying the album Twenty, a compilation featuring 10 remakes of past hits and 10 new songs, some with guest vocalists. The first single was "More Than You'll Ever Know" featuring Charlie Wilson.
It is uncertain whether, a decade from now, young Soul groups will cite Boyz II Men with the kind reverence that groups such as the Chi-Lites and Ray Goodman and Brown receive from today's Soul singers, but a decade ago these four talented young men from Philadelphia helped introduce millions to the mellifluous sounds of sweet soul music, and for that they should get their props.

New Music: Jordin Sparks - "Love Will"

Another new track from the "Sparkle" soundtrack has been premiered, titled "Love Will" written and produced by R. Kelly. "Love Will" is a solid smooth R&B track that showcases Jordin`s beautiful voice and amazing vocal abilities.

New Music: Cee-Lo Green – "I'm A Man"

Cee-Lo Green has premiered a new track titled "I'm A Man", taken from the official soundtrack to the film "Sparkle". Which is mainly produced and written by R. Kelly and Curtis Mayfield and is due out July 31 via RCA Records, ahead of the August 17 theatrical release of the film, that sees Cee-Lo starring along with the late singer Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks.

"I'm A Man" is a soulful-retro 70`s inspired track, that fits the theme of the film. He sings : "There’s so many ladies that need love, oh I’ll do the best I can. But if the morning comes and I’m not there, then darling please understand that I’m a man."

New Music: Bianca Raquel - "No Hook"

The beautiful and talented Bianca Raquel has released her new single titled "No Hook", the first track taken from her musical series called "The Detox" where she will releasing a new track on the 21th of each month for 12 months. "No Hook" is smooth R&B track, that samples P.Diddy’s calssic record "All About The Benjamins". The song showcases Bianca’s beautiful, warm vocal range and sweet harmonies.

Video: The Breakfast Club Interviews Lupe Fiasco

Lupe Fiasco recently stopped by Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club to talk about his forthcoming album Lupe Fiasco’s "Food And Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album, Part 1" and talked about going independent after his Atlantic Records contract is up, his opinion on “Real” Hip-Hop and much more.

Sampling “T.R.O.Y” for his single “Around My Way”: "It was Pete Rock’s record, he produced that record. Tom Scott didn’t make that beat. But I still had to go through the same process that Pete went through to clear the record. I had to send my lyrics to Tom Scott and Jefferson Airplane and all that. [Pete] was in tune through the whole process thats why I was kinda like, ‘You’re buggin.’ And then the way he attacked everything and the way he did it. And then the way we reconciled on the street side and then reconciled personally, and then what he was suppose to do publicly he didn’t do."

Lyricism in Hip Hop: "I come from a different school. I came from Canibus, Eminem. To me that’s up here (motioning high), even early Jay-Z. So for me, lyrically it’s a different kind of conversation. But if it’s just rapping, technically rapping making words rhyme and metaphor here, metaphor there, it’s cool. Technically it’s good, beats are good. Everything is good. It’s fresh. But to me, the substance is just terrible. So it’s like 97% of Hip Hop is just terrible."

Good Music: "I barely listen to Hip Hop to be honest. I can skim through something or you may hear it a little bit. But when it comes to Music, I listen Jazz, I listen to Blues, I listen to Rock & Roll, I listen to Dance music. And Hip Hop is like 6th simply because, either the messages that are in the Blues or the messages that are in the Jazz music or Reggae, I listen to a lot of Reggae. The positivity is what I want to hear, it doesn’t matter how it comes."

Leaving Atlantic Records: "It’s in the air [that I'm leaving Atlantic Records]. I was told that since I’m not a 360 artist that I may not get promoted anyway. Yeah, it suck(s). “For me, you come to that point in industrial hip-hop. I’ve done everything, I’ve achieved my accolades. I’ve sold my million records. The industrial Lupe Fiasco is kinda done"

New Video: Pink - "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)"

Pink has premiered her music video for her smash hit single "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)", the lead single off her sixth studio album "The Truth About Love" due out on 18th September. The video was directed by one of my favorite directors Dave Meyers, it's a fantastic music video that proves why Pink is one of the best artists out there.

The black and white video starts off with Pink on a picnic date with her beau, when he pisses her off, she throws a glass of red wine in his face and struts away angrily while stripping in the process, so he gets a good look at what he’ throwing away. The next scene sees her dancing with a woman but then her ex comes back and gets down on one knee and proposes, but to the woman she had been dancing with. Lol

At their wedding, Pink is dressed in a beautiful black lace dress and a man on flying bike comes by and drops a pink heart which explodes and covers the crowd in pink dye, Pink gets up and starts celebrating.

Here's a the colour version of Pink music video "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)".

New Video: Little Mix - "Wings"

X Factor winners Little Mix have premiered their music video for their single "Wings", their lead single off their upcoming debut album titled "Ready To Fly" due out later this year. Even though I`m not a fan of the song, the music video definitely does a great job of selling it, it’s fun, youthful and showcases the girl`s personalities perfectly.

New Music: Me'Shell NdegéOcello Feat. Valerie June - "Be My Husband"

Live Video: Dawn Richard Performs Acoustic Version Of "Automatic"

Dawn Richard recently performed an acoustic version of her latest song "Automatic"at BMI's "Next Fresh Thing", the track is taken from her chart-topping EP "Armor On" . I love the song, It’s one of my favorite from her EP and she did the damn thing on her music video. The acoustic version of "Automatic" is amazing, it showcases her incredible vocal delivery with emotion.

New Video: Mary J. Blige - "Don't Mind"

The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul Mary J. Blige has premiered her music video for her new single titled "Don't Mind", taken from her latest album "My Life II: The Journey Continues, Act 1". Honestly I think it`s a bad single choice , not saying the song is bad but people will not take it seriously after she used the track for her infamous Burger King commercial where she changed up the lyrics and sang about crispy chicken wraps. Ruining a good song for a stupid check smh. Besides that Mary looked beautiful in the music video, flawless make-up and stunning styling .

New Music: Jhené Aiko – "For My Brother"

Jhené Aiko`s big brother/best friend Miyagi Hasani Ayo Chilombo sadly lost his battle with cancer last week at the age of 26. The L.A. songstress penned a touching tribute to him titled "For My Brother", she recorded the song herself on her laptop with the intention of only playing it for her brother. Before he passed away, she made sure he heard it: "I was so nervous to play it for him myself, so when I left to San Francisco on Thursday I had my TT play it for him. She said his breath got calm as he listened and I know he heard every word. Later that night he became the angel he was born to be and I am so grateful that he got to hear this before he left on his infinite journey" she wrote on her Tumblr page.

She sings : "You are more than just my brother, we grew up just like best friends. I know nothing lasts forever, but I don’t want this to end."

My heart goes out to her and your family during this difficult loss, R.I.P Miyagi .

"Looking You Up" is a solid smooth mid-tempo track, that was produced by Kerry "Krucial" Brothers and co-produced by Zeke MacUmber for Krucial Noise, it paints a picture about a story of lost love and heartbreak. He sings : "So I’ll just keep searching forever until we’re together, until what’s lost is found."

Mateo and Stacy's vocals entwined beautifully, creating a rich vocal tapestry for the listener to untwine. I can't wait to hear what more Mateo has in stores on his forthcoming mixtape "Suite 823".

Fashion Bish: Rita Ora Covers "Complex Magazine"

British songstress Rita Ora has graced the cover and has done a full spread for Complex Magazine’s August/September 2012 issue. Ora looks stunning, photographed by Zoe McConnell and styled up by stylist Matthew Henson in A Bathing Ape, J Brand, Cartier, Rolex, Augustin Teboul and new Opening Ceremony x adidas Originals collection amongst other outfits..
Inside, she discusses everything from Rihanna, Jay-Z , Kanye West, pre-concert nerves, rumours about Rob Kardashian and more.

On the Rob Kardashian dating rumours: "I mean, it’s not really a relationship. It’s not that intense. He’s a cool guy. We’re close. We’re good friends. I got his back and he’s got mine. To me, it doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from—if you’re a good person and you got my back, I got yours. It’s that easy for me."

On no longer being starstruck by her mentor Jay-Z: "I was when I first got signed, knowing what he’s done and the empire he’s created. But he’s one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He made me feel so at ease that I forgot he was Jay for a minute. He turned into this brother figure and an amazing boss."

On pre-show anxiety: "I get nervous before shows and then I’m just like, OK—let’s go. It’s like, you can’t f*ck it up now ’cause everybody’s watching you. It’s more of a rush—like an adrenaline high."

On her relationship with Rihanna: "I admire Rihanna. She works her a*s off. She hasn’t had a break and she has given people hit after hit after hit. That work ethic and discipline is hardcore. That’s the kind of s*it that I want to do. That I will do. She adds, Everyone thought that we hated each other, but the whole thing was created by the media. That’s what’s so funny."

On her journey to stardom: "When I first got signed I was this random girl from London,” she recalls. “I was thinking my whole world was going to be turned around. I thought I was gonna be on Oprah next week with a new single. Three years later I’m just starting to come out. I wanted to release everything I’d ever recorded, but I was lucky enough to have someone like Jay to say, ‘This isn’t good enough. You have to find yourself.’ It was the best advice he could have given me—to be patient."

"Channel Orange" is what music should sound like, it`s production is creative, the lyrics tell a good story and Ocean has a good falsetto and soulful voice. New Music: Rita Ora - "Roc The Life"

Rita Ora has really come a long way in just a few months, her debut single "R.I.P." managed to peak at #1 on the UK Singles chart and her US debut single "How We Do (Party)" is slowing climbing up the the Billboard Hot 100, currently at #62 . She has now premiered her latest track titled "Roc the Life", the track serves as a promotional single off her upcoming debut album titled "ORA" due August 27 in the U.K. "Roc The Life" was produced and co-written by The-Dream, who also features on the background vocals. The track is an empowering pop anthem but her vocal delivery lacks alot of energy and connect, she sounds bored.

Her acoustic performance of "Roc The Life" sounds a million times better, full of energy and heart.

New Music: M.I.A. – "Baby"

M.I.A. is currently putting final touches on her highly anticipated forth album "Matangi", an unreleased track called "Baby" has emerged , that she recorded as a demo for Madonna latest album "MDNA" but it didn`t make the album cut. The William Orbit produced track is pleasantly irresistible with urban, funky vocal layering .

I don`t know why it didn`t make the album cut, because it would`ve fitted perfectly with the rest of the album. It`s really good.

New Music: Amelia Lily - "You Bring Me Joy"

Former X Factor finalist Amelia Lily has premiered her debut single titled "You Bring Me Joy",the first single taken from her upcoming debut album, which is set to be released in November via Sony Music. "You Bring Me Joy"was produced by Xenomania, it is a hugely upbeat dance track with big vocals, she sings : "I'ma looking back, when i've only just begun. I've been thinking 'bout lessons that i'll never lean.""You Bring Me Joy"will be released on iTunes on August 26th in the UK.

When I first heard it I thought it was pretty weak and over produced but I think it has a really infectious production and she sounds really good but I hope she puts out better material that is worthy of her talent.

New Video: Jessie Ware – "Wildest Moments"

Jessie Ware has premiered her music video for her new single titled "Wildest Moments", the latest single taken from her forthcoming debut album "Devotion" due out on 20th August. "Wildest Moments" is a lovely spacey ballad, the video is basically just Jessie singing the song whilst spinning around and looking gorgeous. Nothing cinematic but sometimes the simplest things are the most beautiful.

New Music: Amy Winehouse - "Jazz N' Blues"

On Monday was the one year anniversary of the passing of Amy Winehouse, she tragically passed away due to alcohol poisoning. A rare track she recorded back in 2001 has surfaced titled "No More Jazz N' Blues". It's such a pleasure to hear unreleased songs from the late singer,"Jazz N' Blues", is a smooth mid-tempo Jazz-R&B track that features beautiful vocals layers on the chorus. She sings : "I cross my fingers at the cash machine, as I check my balance . I kiss the screen . I love it when it says I got the means, to go to Miss Sixty and pick up my new jeans."

The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin recently stopped by "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" to promote her latest album "A Woman Falling Out of Love" and her upcoming concert date in Los Angeles. She performed a solid rendition of her 1967 classic hit record "I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You)", written by Ronnie Shannon for Franklin’s 1967 album of the same name.

New Video : Ellie Goulding Feat. Tinie Tempah - "Hanging On"

British songstress Ellie Goulding has premiered her music video for her cover of Active Child's "Hanging On" featuring rapper Tinie Tempah. The beautiful ballad sees Ellie going in a more atmospheric electronic direction and it works brilliantly. Her vocals and the track are on point but Tinie's verse just seemed a bit out of place on the whole production.

The visual is very simplistic, laced with amazing cinematography to match Ellie`s haunting vocals and the instrumentation of the song.

New Music: Shanell - "Just For The Night"

Shanell has released her new single titled "Just for the Night", the first track taken from her upcoming mixtape titled "Nobody's Bitch" which is due out on 13th August. "Just For The Night" is a flirtatious electronic-dance track, produced by Diplo's producer Derek "DJA" Allen. She sings about getting the love she can't get from her own man from another man, who also is in a relationship. It sounds really good and fresh.

New Music : Szjerdene – "4th Stranger (FS Green Remix)"

British songstress Szjerdene recently released a remix to her track "4th Stranger", taken from her stunning EP "Patchwork" which was released earlier this year. The original version of the track is a slow-tempo, the FS Green produced remix is up-tempo with a dance/house production, breathing new life into the track and her vocals fit perfectly on top of it.

New Video: Wynter Gordon - "Stimela"

Wynter Gordon recently premiered her music video for her latest song "Stimela", taken from her recently released EP "Human Condition: Doleo" which you can download for absolutely free via her official website. "Stimela" is an masterpiece and is certainly like nothing else Gordon’s ever done. It was heavily inspired by an anti-apartheid song of the same name by South African musician Hugh Masekela and features a chorus sung in Zulu.

The video was directed by the singer herself: "I wanted it to be an emotional visual art piece, displaying humans as free, powerful animals. We are all running from something or searching for something; our instincts have been ignored. This is me finally listening to them. This is to finally listening".

How Coming Out Heals Your Life...

"After Anderson Cooper and Frank Ocean came out, I got to thinking about my own coming out at age 12 and how it affected my life. I found it to be an extremely healing experience that wasn't easy at first, but led me toward greater peace and wholeness. Telling the truth can challenging for many, but it will bring your destiny closer to you; it will ignite your life and give your struggle greater meaning and purpose. It will set you free."- Jordan Bach
