New Music: Meshell Ndegeocello Feat. Cody ChesnuTT - "To Be Young, Gifted And Black"

Meshell Ndegeocello is gearing up to releasing her forthcoming tenth album "Pour une âme Souveraine (For a Sovereign Soul) A Dedication to Nina Simone", on 9th October. She has premiered her second single off the album, which is a beautiful cover of Simone`s classic record "To Be Young, Gifted and Black". Meshell lets Cody ChesnuTT take lead vocalist and she handles the arrangement and production.

The song was written in memory of Nina Simone's late friend, author Lorraine Hansberry, who wrote the play "Raisin in the Sun". The song is featured on her album "Black Gold", it went on to became a top to R&B hit and went on to be covered by artist like Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin, Bob and Marcia, and many others.

Ndegeocello and ChesnuTT did the song justice, it was beautifully put together and sang with alot of passion and heart. If Simone was still alive she would`ve been impressed with the cover as I am.

New Music: No Doubt - "Push And Shove"

No Doubt have premiered their new single and title track to their forthcoming sixth album on Ryan Seacrest’s morning radio show. "Push And Shove" is a energetic-upbeat dancehall-dubstep track that produced by Diplo and features Busy Signal and Major Lazer. The single follows up the current single "Settle Down" which peaked at #34 on the Billboard Hot 100.

It`s a shame that "Settle Down" was not as successful as we predicted but the single was a perfect come back single and got people excited for their upcoming album. "Push And Show" is another great single choice, edgy track that radio friendly as well, the breakdown on the chorus is freaking amazing.

Single Artwork: Alicia Keys - "Girl On Fire"

Alicia Keys has revealed the artwork for her upcoming single and the title track to her forthcoming fifth album "Girl On Fire", due out on 27th November via RCA records. The single will be released on iTunes on 4th September and she will perform the song for the first time live at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards on 6th September.

Album Cover: Brandy - "Two Eleven"

R&B songstress Brandy has unveiled the official album cover for her forthcoming sixth album "Two Eleven" which will hit stores on 16th October via Chameleon/RCA records . The album will feature the Chris Brown assisted single "Put It Down" and her latest single "Wildest Dreams". She looks so stunning on the album cover, very edgy and stylish and she is connecting with the camera, beautifully.
Deluxe album cover below.
The promotion for the singles and album has been quite disappointing in my opinion, her doing all these random interviews and magazine covers will not help her album sells much, she needs to hire a new team and actually start performing on level that draws attention to her new album, be all over our television screens.

Don`t be like Kelly Rowland and wait for the last minute to start promoting/performing your music, which saw her last album peaking at number three with the lowest album sells of her career. Even with a big hit like "Motivation", she failed to sell more records mainly due to her poor promotion and laziness. She needed to own her craft and go the extra mile to promote it herself, perform, perform, perform.

New Video: Dawn Richard - "Wild N' Faith"

Dawn Richard has premiered her double music video for her new singles titled "Faith" and "Wild N' Young", which are taken from her recently-released debut EP "Armor On" via her own independent label. The stunning , creative and very captivating music video was directed by Eugene Lee Yang, filmed in Los Angeles. "I am the goddess of faith sent to restore faith in my apparitions, this carries the modern day Joan of Arc theme for Goldenheart. Each outfit carries a look of armor."

"Wild N' Faith" starts off with Dawn walking through smoke and then makes the video smoke with well put together choreography, story and costumes. Solid visual effort that will certainly help build anticipation for her upcoming solo debut album "Goldenheart", which is the first album in her upcoming trilogy, due out on 16th October.

10 Things To Do Even If They Judge You

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
Truth be told, no one has the right to judge you. People may have heard your stories, but they can’t feel what you are going through; they aren’t living YOUR life. So forget what they say about you. Focus on how you feel about yourself, and do what you know in your heart is right.

Here are ten things to do even if others judge you for it:

1.Take care of yourself. – Your relationship with yourself is the closest and most important relationship you will ever have. If you don’t take good care of yourself, then you can’t take good care of others either; which is why taking care of yourself is the best selfish thing you can do.

2. Do what you know is right, for YOU. – Don’t be scared to walk alone, and don’t be scared to like it. Don’t let anyone’s ignorance, drama, or negativity stop you from being the best you can be. Keep doing what you know in your heart is right, for you. Because when you are totally at peace within yourself, nothing can shake you.

3. Follow your own unique path. – Every new day is a chance to change your life. Work on making life all that you want it to be. Work hard for what you believe, and keep your dreams big and your worries small. You never need to carry more than you can hold; just take it one day at a time. And while you’re out there making decisions instead of excuses, learning new things, and getting closer and closer to your goals, know that there are others out there, like me, who admire your efforts and are striving for greatness too.

4. Lock yourself away from the world and work on your goals. – Dream big dreams, but realize that short term, realistic goals are the key to success. Success is directly connected with daily action. The way we spend our time defines who we are. Successful people keep moving, by doing small things every day that bring them a couple steps closer to their dream. They make mistakes along the way, but they don’t quit – they learn and press on. Read Getting Things Done.

5. Adjust your goals and dreams as life changes. – A great deal of pain in life comes from having a specific dream that you’ve fallen in love with, and when it doesn’t work out exactly as planned, you become angry that you now have to pursue a different path. If you want to tame your inner demons and make the most of life, you must not become rigidly attached to just one specific dream, and remain open to there being an even better, equally as happy path ahead. Life is unpredictable, but it provides plenty of opportunities to make dreams come true. Just don’t forget that sometimes taking a positive step forward requires you to slightly adjust your dreams, or plan new ones – it’s OK to change your mind or have more than one dream.

6. Forgive those who have wronged you. – Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong and wise. Forgiveness allows you to focus on the future without combating the past. To understand the potential of everything going forward is to forgive everything already behind you. Without forgiveness, wounds can never be healed, and moving on can never be accomplished. What happened in the past is just one chapter. Don’t close the book, just turn the page.

7. Show everyone your love and kindness. – If you are reserving your love only for those who you have decided are worthy of it – all strangers excluded – it may come as a surprise to learn that this is not love at all, it is called judgment. Judgment is selective, love is all embracing. Just as the sunlight and the wind do not discriminate, true love does not make any such distinctions either. Love and kindness is a way of living. Where there is love, there is no judgment. Where there is judgment, there is no love.

8. Stand up for others, even if it’s the unpopular thing to do. – Sometimes you will say something really small and simple, but it will fit right into an empty space in someone’s heart. Dare to reach into the darkness, to pull someone else into the light. Remember, strong people stand up for themselves, but stronger people stand up for others too, and lend a hand when they’re able.

9. Fight through your failures. – When you are feeling down or dealing with failure, don’t be ashamed. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. You are going through a difficult time, and you are still pushing forward. That’s something to be proud of – that you are fighting through it and slowly rising above it. Let everyone know that today you are a lot stronger than you were yesterday, and you will be.

10. Keep your head held high and keep on smiling. – Every day of your life is a page of your history. The only time you run out of chances is when you stop taking them. Don’t cry over the past, cry to get over the past. Don’t smile to hide the pain, smile to heal the pain. Don’t think of all the sadness in the world, think of all the beauty that still remains around you.

New Music: Smoke E. Digglera - "One in a Million (Aaliyah Cover)"

Former member of R&B group Playa, Smoke E. Digglera recently released his stunning cover of Aaliyah`s classic record "One In A Million", as a tribute to the lovely songstress who sadly died in a plane crash shortly after releasing her amazing self-titled album in 2001.
Smoke delivered an outstanding rendition, with a soulful vocal delivery and sweet harmonies, it`s truly the best cover I`ve ever heard.

New Music: Dwele - "Obey"

Detroit crooner Dwele has just premiered a new track taken from his recently-released album "Greater Than One" via eOne Music. "Obey" is a smooth mid-tempo with a lush production and sensitive, passionate vocal delivery.

New Music: Leona Lewis Feat. Childish Gambino – "Trouble"

British songstress Leona Lewis recently premiered her new single "Trouble" featuring Childish Gambino, the track serves as the official second single off her upcoming third album "Glassheart" due out later this year. "Trouble" is a dark and moody mid-tempo track, written by Emeli Sande and produced by Naughty Boys.

"You drink more than you used to, fell in love, how could you? Trust your heart like only fools do, go on let it bleed. You smoked 10 now it’s 20, bet you wish you’d never met me. To stick around you must be crazy, go on let it bleed"- she sings.

Childish Gambino delivered a great verse and Leona showcases her beautiful vocals but she struggled to embody the song, mainly because she was trying to sound like Emeli with her vocal styling. She needed to make the song her own with her vocal styling but overall it`s a solid track.

New Video: Keke Palmer - "Dance Alone"

Actress-singer Keke Palmer has premiered her music video for her second single titled "Dance Alone", taken from her upcoming self-titled mixtape. "Dance Alone" is an energetic mid-tempo track that was produced by Harmony 'HMoney' Samuels and co-written by Edwin 'Lil Eddie' Serrano. The track shits on singles like Brandy`s "Put It Down", it`s beautifully put together and Keke embodies the song and showcases her vocal growth.

"The song is saying I'm trying to get this guy, I don't want to dance alone, come dance with me, It has a bit of an influence of "The Way You Make Me Feel" by Michael Jackson. The song has a very masculine feel to it, so I thought it was important to capture that visually in my dance moves and in the way that I look, yet still finding a way to be feminine. It's me chasing this guy who isn't totally feeling me, so it's kind of like I'm trying to feel him out and show him how I am to get him to come dance with me", explained Keke the concept of the video.

The music video sees Keke showing off her sexy and seductive dance moves , her choreographer Rosero Mccoy said:"Alright today has been fire and we've been here for eight hours and we just did the performance piece and it is amazing. And sure see the song flips up Keke is doing her thing with the dances, the energy is ridiculous it's gonna be amazing amazing video."

She is recently revealed the official album cover for "Girl On Fire", which sees her rocking a short hairdo and channeling a high fashion model. The cover is cute but honestly it lacks a lot of energy and the layout is quite plain and the font is too small. If it had colour and a great location and the font was bigger font, it would be perfect.

New Video: Usher - "Dive"

Grammy-award winner Usher recently premiered his music for his new single "Dive, the latest single taken from his current album "Looking 4 Myself". "Dive" is a bland slow jam ,that gets a sexified video to drum up some interest.

They are seen making in love in a yacht that is quickly flooding with water. The visuals are exciting to watch but the song is ultimately forgettable.

Video: Ciara Speaks On Being More Confident On "One Woman Army"

Grammy-award winning R&B singer Ciara recently sat down with Claudia Jordan, guest host of Centric’s The Hot 100 and she opened up about her forthcoming fifth album "One Woman Army" she said that she is more comfortable in her own skin and more confident with her craft on the album.

"Everything is new on this album. The way that I approach things, even where I stand as a woman first before anything, my outlook on life is way more different. You know that comes with growth, and I'm also just living more."

"When I first started I was really unfamiliar with the world I was walking into. I knew what I wanted to do which I was living my dream, and I am, but I wasn't really familiar with the territory I was walking into. It was really new so the kind of person that I am, is when I walk into an unfamiliar place. I kind of just step back for a second and watch and now I've been able to watch long enough and I've been around long enough to understand where I am and so there's a new level of comfort for me and confidence that has really become a part of where I am [..] so that within itself is like the biggest difference.

"When I look at myself I am happy about that. I'm happy about being more confident. I was always private and on this record 'One Woman Army,' I was very vulnerable."

And she recently revealed her stunning single cover to her upcoming new single "Sorry", which is due to premiere soon.

Heaven's my destiny when I'm with you The only place to be just you and me".
You & I" displays alot of passion, love, sincerity, vulnerability and tenderness . Avant and Keke Wyatt have a great vocal chemistry, Avant beautifully showcased his smooth falsetto and Keke gave me life with those flawless runs throughout the song, she is so underrated.

New Music: Bridget Kelly - "Special Delivery"

Roc Nation's Bridget Kelly has premiered her official new single "Special Delivery", which the lead single taken from her upcoming debut album. She recently preformed the soulful mid-tempo track at last month`s Essence Music Festival in New Orleans.

New York songstress sings about a serious breakup: "I hope when he reads these words this hurt I feel bleeds through before the ink dries".

Is the song single worthy ? sadly it`s not because it lacks all the elements of being a single, from the way the production is put together to the vocal arrangement and delivery. She needs a record that truly showcases her fully as artist and a vocalist and shows what she is bringing to the game that we have never heard before, this track doesn`t do that at all. Even though I like it but it`s not single worthy more like album filler.

12 Negative Thoughts Holding You Back...

We are addicted to our thoughts. We cannot change anything if we cannot change our thinking.

Your thoughts today create your life tomorrow. Here are twelve destructive thoughts to flush out of your mind.

1. “My past is indicative of my future.” – Do not judge failed attempts and mistakes as an indication of your future potential, but as part of the growth process. Something does not have to end well for it to have been one of the most valuable experiences of a lifetime. When times get tough, take a deep breath. Know that most great things come when you least expect it. Keep working on YOU and it will work itself out. Being defeated is a temporary condition; giving up is what makes it permanent.

2. “I care what they think of me.” – Ignore the rude people who talk about you behind your back. That’s exactly where they belong, behind your back. Being strong doesn’t mean you always have to fight the battle. True strength is being wise enough to walk away from the nonsense with your head held high.

3. “I’ll do what makes me happy someday.” – Sometimes in your quest to make everyone else happy, you make yourself miserable. Remember, today is the oldest you’ve ever been and the youngest you will ever be again. It’s kind of scary, but it’s true. If there was ever a perfect moment to follow your values and pursue your own dreams, that moment is now.

4. “I can’t,” “It’s too late,” “I’m not good enough,” etc. – We never know where we will be at the end of our journey. We do, however, know where we are today; and from here we can mine our hope and love to set the course forward. Our attitude shifts our sails and ultimately determines not only our final destination, but more importantly, the voyage and experiences along the way.

5. “There’s so much that could go wrong.” – Stop being afraid of what could go wrong, and start thinking of what could go right. Better yet, think of everything that already is right. Be thankful for nights that turned into mornings, friends that turned into family, and past dreams and goals that turned into realities. Use these positive points to fuel an even brighter tomorrow.

6. “I will never forgive you.” – It takes a strong heart to love, but it takes an even stronger heart to continue to love after it’s been hurt. If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious when you open your heart. You are stronger now and better equipped to find the kind of love you deserve.

7. “I don’t like them because they’re broken.” – As you grow you will discover that you were blessed with two great hands – one for helping yourself, and one from helping others. Be someone who builds and nurtures with an understanding and forgiving heart. Be someone who looks for the best in people and leaves them a little stronger than you found them. And always be careful of how you judge people – you can’t sum up a person’s entire existence in one moment.

8. “I am too unhappy to make anyone else happy.” – Happiness is a boomerang. When you catch yourself feeling unhappy, doing something small that makes someone else happy, and I guarantee you, when they smile, it will be hard not to smile back.

9. “I can’t trust anyone.” – We often keep our hearts closed, not because we don’t trust others not to leave us, let us down, or stop loving us, but because we don’t trust ourselves to survive the pain of them leaving, letting us down, or not loving us anymore. How ironic, considering that only by suffering through these very losses, do we come to realize our true strength. Remember, like a tiny seed, in order to grow, we need to be dropped in dirt, covered in darkness, rained on, and forced to struggle slowly to reach the light.

10. “Everyone else is doing it, so it must be right.” – Live YOUR life. Never hide who you are. The only shame is to have shame. Stand up for what you believe in. Question what other people tell you when it doesn’t feel right. If you follow the crowd, you will go no further than the crowd. But if you walk alone, follow your gut, and carve your own path, you will likely find yourself in places no one has ever been before.

11. “It will never get better.” / “It will never get worse.” – This too shall pass. When life is rough, remember, it won’t always be this way. So take one day at a time. And when life is great, remember, it won’t always be this way. So appreciate every great moment.

12. “I don’t have time to dream.” – The real tragedy in life doesn’t lie in not reaching your dream; it lies in having no dream to reach. Devote yourself to an idea you believe in. Follow your gut. Overcome your fears. Work on it. Struggle with it. Smile about it. Make it happen. This is your life and your dream – no one else’s. And remember, you don’t have to see the whole staircase; you just have to take one step at a time.

New Music: Tinashe - "Stargazing"

RCA recording artist Tinashe has released her new single titled "Stargazing", the lead single taken from her upcoming second mixtape titled "Reverie". "Stargazing" was produced by Bmarz, it is a beautiful, dreamy low-tempo track with a soothing vocal delivery. Perfect single to follow up her previous mixtape "In Case We Die", which I highly recommend you to download, it`s so refreshing and different from the norm.

New Music: Nina Sky Release Their Second Album "Nicole And Natalie"

Sister-duo Nina Sky best known for their 2004 hit single "Move Ya Body", have independently released their long-awaited second album titled "Nicole And Natalie", the free album features 8 tracks and showcases their new musical styling, which is a mixture of dance-inflected R&B that sounds similar to what Dawn Richard doing but with laid back feel to it. The album features production and writing from Salaam Remi, Slimmy Neutron, Beau Vallis, Brenmar and the twins themselves.

One of my personal favorite tracks off the album has got to be "Never Kissed You" produced by super-producer Salaam Remi, it features a bass and drum driven production with a unique sound to do. Their sultry vocals and harmonies sound freaking amazing and the lyrics are so sassy and cheeky: "You dress just like the others, is that just your disguise? Your hat so low, I cannot see your eyes. You’re swimming in your bottom, for ex is not your size. And why are your ear rings bigger than mine? I know I didn’t kissed you, I hardly go out. So step back with that L up in your mind.."
Rating: 3/5

You can download the album for free via Nina Sky's official website.

Remembering Aaliyah...

On this day 11 years ago, the talented singer Aaliyah Dana Haughton was killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas on the way back from filming the video for her posthumous hit single, “Rock the Boat.”At the time, the 22-year-old singer was preparing for the release of her third album, simply titled Aaliyah, which went on to sell 2.5 millions copies. The success of that album and her two previous albums (1994’s Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number and 1996’s One in a Million) was a true reflection of the singer’s impact on fans and the industry as a whole.Aaliyah, whose soft, whispery vocals were just as infectious as every Timbaland-produced beat that usually accompanied them, is credited for helping redefine R&B and hip-hop in the 1990s. During that decade—often referred to by music fans as the “Golden Age” of hip-hop and R&B—it was a rare occurrence to walk past a stereo without hearing Aaliyah’s voice emanating from the speakers. She was christened the “Queen of Urban Pop” by commentators of pop culture, and her influence is seen in many of the R&B and pop chanteuses of today. As MTV News once put it, “It’s there in Rihanna’s runway-fashion sense. Keri Hilson’s around-the-way persona and Nicole Scherzinger’s simmering sexuality share a debt to her. And the sense of what her career could have ultimately become is evident in Beyoncé’s multimedia presence.”
Never one to rest on her laurels, before her death, Aaliyah was on the verge of being as big a star in Hollywood as she was in music. Prior to the plane crash that took her life, the Brooklyn, NY native starred in the Joel Silver produced Romeo Must Die, opposite martial arts master, Jet Li. The film, produced on a $25,000,000 budget, went on to gross $55,973,336 domestically and $91,036,760 worldwide. Having proved her box office appeal, Aaliyah took on the role of Queen Akasha in Queen of the Damned (released posthumously), and was slated to star in several other films at the time of her death, including Honey (Aaliyah was originally cast to play the title character), The Matrix: Reloaded and The Matrix: Revolutions. Her friend and longtime collaborator Missy Elliott said it best in an email to MTV.com, “If she was still with us, she would still be at the top. Because she always stayed pushing herself to be better.” Her movies and videos are a painful reminder of what could’ve been. Via DrJays "Dear Dana,I’ve never lost a parent, a friend, or a lover but I will never forget this day for the rest of my life. I remember getting the news that you had passed and it connected with my heart like a clean shot from Muhammad Ali. I was crushed. Not only was I one of your biggest fans but I was truly in love with you. I loved the way you carried yourself, the way you dressed, the confidence with which you addressed passion and relationships in your music. I said to myself that even if we never met, I wanted a woman in my life just like you. I am pained that we will never get to connect now that music ended up being my career path. But you should know, we all listen to you everyday and we remain inspired and moved by all that you’ve given the world. I hope I make the right life choices so I can end up in heaven where I know you rest your head. I’ll continue to make music in your honor until the day we finally meet. Dinner’s on me!
Love you always and forever"-Drake
"Elliott: When me and Tim first went to work with her, we were so nervous. She was such a big star, and I was scared she was gonna be some diva, sipping on tea, with people fixing her hair and nails, and she would say, "What is this music you got! It's wack!" But when we walked in the studio, her smile made the whole room glow! She was like "Heyyyyy!" and gave us big hugs and made us feel like we were her cousins from down South. She was a very sweet spirit! Never seen her angry as long as I've known her, and in this business, that's unheard of!
MTV: What memory do you revisit most when you think about Aaliyah?

Elliott: We've had so many memorable times. My most memorable is when me, her and Tim wore outfits alike! It was burgundy Pony outfits to the awards. Mind you, Aaliyah was petite so her Pony outfit looked so cute on her, but I kept looking at mine during the awards whispering to her saying, "I feel like a big-ass pony for real!" And we laughed and laughed! Too many memories to state them all! If she was still with us, she would still be at the top. Because she always stayed pushing herself to be better."-Missy Elliott speaking with MTV News.

"As we live each day on this earth, we write a chapter in the book of our lives. It is a book filled with stories of happiness, laughter, adventure, danger, sadness, joy, pain, and love. Every person that smiles at us as they pass us by on the street; each is important in creating the myriad of memories that make us who we are, I believe that time exists so that we may pinpoint each one of those memories in our book of life. When the time comes for our book to be finished, we can go back and re-experience any moment that we wish to for however long we desire. God has decided that Aaliyah’s book is done, and now she can sit by his side and enjoy flipping through the pages of her life and finally learn the meaning of the mystery we are all still living here on earth. Aaliyah was my little sister, my best friend, my hero, my perfect love. I knew all her little secrets and she knew all of mine. Whenever I was lost or felt there was no way out, she was there to take my hand and guide me through. What made her so special was that although she was a star, when you met her she made you feel like a star. Babygirl, I will see your smile in every sunrise and feel the warmth of your touch in its rays. I will remember how your tears cleansed my soul in every raindrop and your kiss like the wind on my face. When the birds sing I’ll hear your angelic voice resonate through the sky. I’ll look at the moon and stars and see the twinkle in your eye, I’ll walk the earth knowing that you are everywhere. Looking down from heaven, waiting for your big brother to get there. Hold her for me God, Amen."-Aaliyah’s eulogy by her big brother Rashad Haughton.

Must-See: Rihanna On "Oprah's Next Chapter"

Pop singer Rihanna recently sat down with Oprah in her native Barbados for the latest edition of "Oprah's Next Chapter", she opened up about a variety of subjects, including Chris Brown, sex appeal, life in the spotlight and many more. She also gave Oprah a tour of her childhood home and surprised her mother with new house.
Before I watched the interview I was very emotionless towards her because of her hard persona but when I watched it for the second time I had to be very open minded and it helped me understand her more as person. She is human like rest of us, we don`t have no right to judge anyone because we all have flaws as human beings . Oprah did a great job , showcasing this side to her, I have a better understanding of who she is as a person now.
